Finding your makeup style is a game-changer for feeling confident and showcasing your unique personality. It’s not just about looking good—it’s about feeling amazing and ensuring your makeup complements your skin tone, face shape, and personal style. When you discover the right makeup routine, you’ll feel more put together without feeling overwhelmed by complicated techniques or excessive products. Whether you prefer a natural look or something bold and glamorous, the key is to choose what makes you feel most like yourself.
Your facial features, like your eyes, lips, and cheekbones, guide how you should apply products like blush, bronzer, and highlighter. The right makeup enhances your natural beauty rather than covering it up, while lip liner and the perfect foundation can tie the whole look together seamlessly. Starting with good skin care ensures your makeup looks fresh and lasts longer, giving you the confidence to face any situation.
Taking a quiz to determine your makeup preferences can help narrow down your options and eliminate any confusion. Think about the colors and tones that match your style—light, soft shades for a daytime look or bold, dramatic hues for a night out. It’s all about balancing your preferences with what enhances your natural beauty. Managing your makeup look also means knowing when less is more, so you don’t feel weighed down or overdone.
Experimenting with different makeup styles, from classic to trendy, can help you find what feels right for you. Sharing beauty tips and tricks with friends or exploring tutorials can inspire new ways to elevate your style. Remember, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to beauty—it’s personal and should make you feel good about yourself. Don’t hesitate to play around with color, try new products, or refine your technique to create your perfect makeup look.

The Process to Find Your Makeup Look
- Understand Your Style Preferences: Start by considering the style you typically lean toward in your wardrobe. Do you prefer minimalist, classic pieces, or do you love bold, trendy looks? Your makeup should reflect your overall style, so think about whether you want something subtle or statement-making.
- Assess Your Skin Type and Features: Your makeup should also cater to your skin type. Are you more on the oily, dry, or combination side? What’s your skin tone? These factors can influence the types of products and shades that will work best for you.
- Experiment with Different Looks: Don’t be afraid to try different makeup styles! Play around with various looks—try a natural look one day, a bold look the next, and see what feels the best and most comfortable for your day-to-day life. I found that the best way to change the “vibe” for me is my lipstick shade and my eyebrow “thickness”. It depends on what my activity is and those are the 2 things I usually change up. It doesn’t need much to change it up, but it adds a difference.
- Consider the Time Factor: Think about how much time you’re willing to spend on makeup. If you’re busy and need something quick, focus on a simple routine that can still make you feel confident and stylish. A go-to look should be quick to apply but elevate your natural features.
- Know Your Go-To Style: Identify the makeup look that you feel most confident in and that aligns with your personality. This could be a subtle everyday look or something more glamorous for evenings out. Stick with what makes you feel the best!
Your Go-To Makeup Look for Everyday
- Natural and Effortless Elegance: If you’re looking for a style that is both quick and stylish, opt for a natural look that enhances your features without being too bold.
- Foundation/Concealer: Choose a lightweight foundation or BB cream that evens out your skin tone. A good concealer can help with any blemishes or dark circles.
- Brows: Tidy up your brows with a pencil or powder that matches your natural hair color for a soft, well-groomed appearance.
- Eyes: Stick with neutral shades like soft browns, taupes, or peachy tones for your eyeshadow. Add a little mascara to open up your eyes, but skip the heavy eyeliner for a more fresh, natural vibe.
- Cheeks: A soft blush in peach or rose adds a healthy flush of color to your face, giving you a natural glow.
- Lips: Choose a nude or soft pink lipstick or gloss to complete the look. These shades are perfect for daily wear and are easy to maintain throughout the day.
- Pro Tip: A simple makeup routine that enhances your natural beauty can be done in just 10 minutes, so it’s perfect for busy mornings.

How to Make Your Makeup Routine Work for You
- Less Is More: Choose products that serve multiple purposes to save time and effort, such as a BB cream that doubles as a moisturizer or a lip tint that also works as a blush.
- Customize Your Routine: No matter your style, make sure your routine reflects your lifestyle and comfort level. It’s important to find products that make you feel confident without overwhelming your day.
- Adjust for Occasions: For special events or evenings out, consider amping up your usual look with a bolder lip or more defined eyeshadow. For everyday wear, keep things light and natural.
- Three go-to items. Reaching for my three go-to “signature” items made my life easier. You will always find me with my matte blush (Sephora Colorful Blush), nose and jaw contour shade (Mac Eyeshadow – yes! I use eyeshadow for contouring!), and concealer. A lip balm is also given as it’s not really a makeup routine, but it’s just something I have to use, or else my lips will be perpetually dry. I use the tinted Vaseline lip balm. I recently got this travel brush set from Sephora and it’s so handy!
